Cyber Tips

3 main things you should be doing to ensure your business is secure:

1. Use HTTPS:

Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is a protocol for secure communication over the Internet. It encrypts data transmitted between a website and its users, ensuring that sensitive information such as passwords and credit card numbers is protected from eavesdropping and tampering.

How: To use HTTPS, you will need to obtain an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate and configure your website server to use HTTPS.

2. Use strong passwords:

Weak passwords are a common security vulnerability that can be easily exploited by hackers. Ensure that all user accounts on your website have strong passwords that are difficult to guess or brute-force.

How: Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters, and avoid using common words or phrases. Consider using a password manager to generate and store complex passwords securely.

3. Keep your software up to date:

Outdated software, including your website’s content management system (CMS), plugins, and themes, can be a security risk. Hackers can exploit known vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access to your website and its data.

How: Ensure that you keep all software up to date with the latest security patches and bug fixes. Regularly check for updates and apply them as soon as they become available.
